San Francisco Day 3

Today we went to Alcatraz. My first time. It wasn't as creepy as I thought it would be, but unsettling all the same. We took the audio tour of the actual prison. You put on these head phones and listen to former prisoners, wardens, their relatives, etc describe life on 'the rock.' We keep saying how when we get home we have to rent all the movies that take place here in san fran. The view from here was amazing. The craziest part was that sometimes the prisoners could actually hear what was going on in the city. Like on new years eve they could hear all the parties on the wharf. But i must admit, seeing people pose in the very cells that men were prisoners, with big jolly smiles on their faces, was a little strange for me. Brad made some new friends on the way over. Always the sports fan, as soon as he spotted a brittish accent on our fellow Alcatraz tourists, he got straight to the critical point of do you watch football and whose your team and blah blah blah. And what do you know. . . within 30 minutes Andy and Laura from London were our buddies offering us a place to stay whenever we make it to europe. So talking about sports all the time has is perks I guess - breaks down the international barrier. Afterwards was another nice stroll along the wharf where we laughed at the 'bush man' for a while and headed up to Union Square for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. It was really convenient that a cable car stop was right outside our hotel so we just hopped aboard and enjoyed the ride. We had to wait for a while to eat but it was fun to go. And again, cold. This was supposed to be our last night here, but we just couldn't help ourselves. Just one more day. . .
